Gregory Becknel
Gregory Becknel was born on September 6, 1993 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This young professional – whose stage name is “Greg Beck” – is more than a sultry singing R&B artist.
He started singing at the age of six in Church, and by the time he was thirteen he knew he wanted to be a singer professionally when he grew up. He worked tirelessly and diligently towards that goal by sacrificing extracurricular activities and sleep, in order to better himself and his chosen craft.
Since then, Greg has built an incredibly impressive resume of performances, having been selected to open for and appear with several well-known artists such as Noel Gourdin, R&B mogul Keith Sweat, Jill Scott, and Eric Benet at the city annual Pre-Essence Bash sponsored by the mayor of New Orleans.
In 2008, Greg traveled to New York to compete in the “Stars of Tomorrow” category on “Amateur Night” at the world-famous Apollo Theater. His show stopping rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come” earned him the only standing ovation of the night, as well as the title of winner. In 2010, Greg’s single “On the First Date” was released and marketed by TC Thompkins of Thompkins Media Group (Marketing Director of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Off the Wall”). “On the First Date” went from #63 to #9 on the charts in the collegiate market.
Greg is also an accomplished model and actor. In addition to his debut performance on the “Today Show,” Greg has been interviewed and featured on ABC26 News, CW38, and “The Morning Show” in New Orleans. He has also played small roles in the movies “Robosapien” and “Welcome to the Rileys.”
